design et al are delighted to announce that ABITANT & Alexey Rubashenka have been shortlisted for Living Space – Europe Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.

Alexey Rubashenka & ABITANT were enlisted for the interior design of an apartment located in the historical centre of Moscow, overlooking the Moscow river and the main park of the city.

ABITANT

The 90 square metre apartment is based in a residential building that was constructed in the 1950’s. The brief was to create an interior that respected the historical details of the building through the preservation of the details, stucco and the architectural layout of the apartment and the windows. The neoclassical interior was created in collaboration with the owner of the apartment, who is one of Moscow’s famous socialites. Therefore, rich shades and bright interior items from premium world brands are used throughout the interior. The fourth area of the apartment is occupied by a dressing room, as the client works predominantly in the fashion industry.

ABITANT

For this project Alexey Rubashenka & Abitant have used famous furniture brands, especially items that have become iconic in the interior design industry. The interior uses natural materials such as marble frames in the slopes of the windows, bathroom finishes and kitchen countertops. The designers have also used Russian oak in the decoration of floors. Natural gypsum stucco was made according to the drawings of famous artisans.

ABITANT

The luxurious interior was created based on the aesthetics of the owner and fully reflects her personality, as well as through the use of furniture from leading brands that have incredible quality and energy of their creators. The design corresponds well with the historical appearance of the building and the entire architectural ensemble located on the banks of the Moscow River and successfully recreates the interior of the past with a twist and a modern interpretation.
