design et al are delighted to announce that Alexander James Interiors have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – UK Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
This luxurious contemporary residence offers a superb balance of both formal and relaxed living spaces, making it a perfect family home. The design brief for this project was to design a classic, contemporary style home and warm up the spaces which originally felt very cold and harsh. The client wanted their home to be great for entertaining with an opulent, luxurious look with lots of texture.
The client asked Alexander James Interiors to design a large master suite with new his and hers dressing rooms and separate bathrooms. This involved moving one of the walls to create a larger room for ‘his en-suite and dressing room’ by slightly reducing the size of the guest bedroom. Alexander James Interiors were also asked to design a formal, masculine study with heavy panelling to all walls and invited to design bespoke fitted furniture to many of the other rooms in the property, including a new wine room.
Alexander James Interiors’ interior architecture team re-designed her master en-suite bathroom as part of the entire master suite, linking directly with ‘her dressing room’ and bedroom. With the whole suite being a seamless and open space, the designers felt it important to make it feel as relaxing and luxurious as possible. The stunning Silver Wave Polished book matched marble slab which Alexander James Interiors installed behind the oval bath became the focal point of the bathroom, while the more practical, less aesthetic amenities were tucked away out of sight.
For the floor tiles, the designers used Namibian White Polished marble and re-introduced the Silver Wave marble in a statement border running around the edge of the bathroom. The bespoke floating vanity unit with accent lighting below, was designed to echo the dressing room doors and create a feminine and glamourous look, with nine panels of bevelled mirror above. The designers installed elegant wall lights onto the mirror as both a decorative and practical feature.
The design works so well as Alexander James Interiors have created not only the chic, sophisticated and luxurious home that the clients desired, but also a home perfect for functional family living. The leafy suburban surroundings of the property play host to beautiful greenery, perfect for those searching for a sanctuary away from the City. The design integrates into this environment perfectly, a contemporary yet serene family home bursting with colour, texture, pattern, and personality.
