Congratulations to Blush International shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Europe Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018

design et al are delighted to announce that Blush International have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Europe Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.

Blush International were the interior designers for this full internal renovation of a London town house, this project was the fourth project they have completed for this particular client. This house was interesting as it was mainly primarily purchased for the older children to use as their weekend London base, however the parents would also be using the property when they visited London. The younger generation wanted a much more contemporary scheme than the parents, Blush International had to make sure that they struck the perfect balance between fashion forward and elegant interiors.

The clients also wanted to introduce a small gymnasium and staff room in the basement which is always challenging when working in the constraints of a London listed townhouse. Through clever space planning, Blush International also provided the requested study, garden room and three large bedroom suites. Blush International were asked to make the property feel as spacious as possible as the property was much smaller in size than their other homes.

Each area in the property holds its own character and style whilst fluidly flowing from the masculine suites as the top of the property through to the social areas that are filled with natural light from both the front and back of the building. Blush International love the juxtaposition between the elegantly decorated entrance and the more contemporary open plan kitchen and dining area, by continuing the same monochrome marbles throughout the areas, the transition is extremely successful.

The townhouse is situated in Knightsbridge and therefore it was extremely important to the client that the interior reflected the timelessness elegance of the surrounding area. It was important for Blush International to integrate the interior with the Grade II listed white stucco frontage of the property, therefore it was so imperative that the entrance hall was decorated in a more elegant and traditional style than the rest of the property.

The key aspect of this project was designing a contemporary family home that accompanies younger members of the family to live and study within, as well as maintaining a structured formal layout to the property.
