design et al are delighted to announce that Broadway Interiors have been shortlisted for Bar/Club/Lounge – Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2018.
Lock Stock and Barrel is an innovative, trendy, industrial style bar with a cool and casual vibe; a destination to provide the ultimate entertainment venue in Dubai. The design brief for this project was to upscale the Lock, Stock and Barrel brand and concept, into a space three times the size. Broadway Interiors were to retain the essence of the industrial New York street vibe and unique atmosphere, building on its success, whilst providing new, original, exciting additions in the form of a street food concept and an outside terrace. This venue was to build on the core values of live entertainment, sporting excellence and socialising, therefore the requirement was to maximise the viewing opportunities in the direction of the stage and allow for screens throughout.
The venue had to accommodate 1,800/2,000 customers per night, however despite being the largest venue in the Middle East, it needed to retain an intimacy, irrespective of patron levels at all times. Casual dining areas were to be allocated throughout with an outside terrace to maximise the stunning beach views. It was also vital that Broadway Interiors were able to ensure audible privacy from the surrounding elements of the Hotel. The innovative use of shipping containers and recycling redundant materials gives this project its unique design appeal. The shipping containers are stacked on the seaward side of the venue generating vantage points, together with intimate booth seating, whilst creating spacious transition areas that flow within. The strategic placement of further containers on the upper floor, allows random positioning of food outlets, designed to display their international offerings within, creating a street food feel, similar to the current truck food trend.
Dark natural materials are used to achieve the rustic, industrial look, rich accents of vintage colour stimulate the eye in key elements such as the comfortable leather furniture and custom-made tables. Intimate, casual seating areas accommodate groups of all sizes and coloured LED lighting illuminate bars and pool tables. The ground floor is a theatrical exercise and the elevated floor, cushioned to absorb the sound, is a mixture of polished concrete, traditional and Herringbone parquet floor. The stage constructed using scaffold boards, has a huge presence and is the focal point of the venue. Building on the popular vintage speaker wall, a new retro mobile phone wall has been designed into the scheme and the LSB Brand!
The LSB casual NYC meat packing vibe has become a benchmark brand in the Dubai food and beverage scene. Its robust vernacular helps maintain the design aesthetic, whilst entertaining over 2000 people frequenting the venue on a nightly basis. The fact it can morph from a sold-out Friday brunch, to a live band/dance venue in the evening and a Saturday lunchtime sports bar showing live sport on huge screens throughout the venue, demonstrates its flexibility and reputation as the ultimate regional entertainment venue.
