design et al are delighted to announce that Cittolin Polli & Associés SA have been shortlisted for Kitchen Design over £50,000 Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.
This project was a residence in Verbier with contemporary architecture designed with quality materials providing a beautiful panorama of the Swiss Alps. The kitchen contains a brushed stainless steel worktop with solid oak bar. The Bulthaup sink is also made from brushed stainless steel. The cabinets are made from natural aluminium and the credence is made of white enamelled glass. The lighting in the kitchen is done by spotlights embedded in the sub-faces of the suspended furniture and in the false ceiling. 
Cittolin Polli & Associes SA’s favourite aspect of the project is the use of stainless steel and aluminium which they prefer to use in all their professional kitchens. They believe that the use of these materials in this setting really develop a contract with the traditional kitchen style. The designers believe that the project works so well because of the mix of contemporary materials in a mountain environment.
One of the challenges that paced the project was the marrying of a large number of materials, all as different as they were magnificent, while maintaining harmony and logic in the project. In this way, each material has been able to create a warm inviting space whilst bringing a personal touch, recognising its qualities. The end result is a gentle mix between traditional, precisely metered originality, innovation and characterful materials. This project represents the trends and inspiration of the current day while keeping in mind the location and the use of new materials in a smart way so that they remain timeless.
