design et al are delighted to announce that Aqua Platinum Projects has been shortlisted for the Residential Swimming Pool Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017
Working with prestigious developers Mclaren Construction and renowned architects Squire and Partners, Aqua Platinum Projects have designed a luxury wellness scheme inclusive of a swimming pool, steam room and sauna, within a new development in the heart of England’s capital. Aqua Platinum were appointed to design and build a bespoke freeboard swimming pool including a vitality area as part of the luxury basement development in Central London.
The pool has been expertly designed, with metallic effect mosaics, used to reflect the light and space within the pool hall, and that the finishes mirror the high quality, luxurious feel of the pool surround. The traditional sauna and steam room have both been finished to an exceptional standard, with the steam room tiled in a mosaic design to complement the swimming pool design.
There were many design considerations discussed to ensure that the finished pool would be a classic and elegant addition to this incredible building whilst allowing the user to relax and unwind. The designers felt it has been greatly achieved through the use of the metallic tiles and spacing of the pool hall layout. Their favourite aspect of the Mayfair project are the two columns used within the design. These columns were originally significantly smaller, however, were increased in size to make a bold statement.
This design encompasses many different design elements with a key focus on the colours used throughout. Although the pool hall walls include dark textured features and two darker columns, the use of the metallic tiles within the pool and the surrounding lights, have ensured that the overall feel is very open, light and natural. The swimming pool layout complements the pool hall perfectly allowing the pool to be as large as possible, however, not taking over the pool hall completely. It has been designed so users are close to the pool whilst still having space to relax in the other wellness areas.
