With such a large space the challenge was to create beautiful furniture which would retain an elegance and yet have significant presence; it was a fine balance, in essence the team were conscious of neither wanting to dominate the space nor get lost in its vast proportions. The principle for the design was to use depth perception to break up such a large run of furniture.
The intersection of shapes and forms inter-playing with each other became the basis for the island and the resulting scheme. The choice of secondary materials to work alongside the hand selected veneer would be key to translating the importance of these intersecting shapes, and would emphasise the play on depth within the design.

The fusion of beauty and functionality is key to of Marcello Cuconato’s designs, but never more so then when working with a space which is to be used for high life and entertaining.
A specific natural stone was chosen for the worktops that was striking and luxurious, yet also incredibly durable. Marcello was also equally keen to ensure that whilst the layout offered symmetry and balance, it also offered an ergonomic working flow for a practical family environment.
