Congratulations to Fusion Interiors Group who have been shortlisted for Hotel Under 200 Rooms Global in The International Hotel & Property Awards 2017

design et al are delighted to announce that Fusion Interiors Group have been shortlisted for Hotel Under 200 Rooms Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2017.

Named ‘Urban Lodge Hotel’ and located just outside of the city in Sloterdijk this property was formerly an office block that was converted into a hotel with 120 rooms including large public area spaces with a bar, a restaurant, and a breakfast area. The brief was to convert the former office into a modern hotel. Fusion Interiors Group were given a basic brief that they successfully managed to bring to life. Not only were they responsible for the designing of the hotel interiors but they were also given the task of naming and branding as well. The rooms had to be a simple Dutch style and the lobby more dramatic. Fusion were also briefed to design on a reasonable budget.

The key design elements begin the moment the guests enter the hotel. The concrete floors mixed with reclaimed wood planks diagonally fixed on the ceiling give a dramatic contrast to the exterior. The reception design is clad with black iodized metal panels and the top is tiled with the same white tiles used on the bathroom walls. The lounge seating with a real fireplace is a focal point and designed to be centrally located as the guests enter the building to create a warm and welcoming environment. Bookshelves with a selection of vintage pieces that Hilary found locally bring soul to the space. The blue and white floor tiling and deep cobalt blue bar bring in the colour theme inspired by Dutch Delft Pottery. This theme is also apparent through the stationary design and in the rooms on the special tiles designed by a local artist, as well as in the plates hung as artworks above the beds.

Other highlights are the chevron wood columns that frame the lobby space and connect with the wood ceiling over reception and the industrial sea of lights in the restaurant also found in a vintage store. Once the name was agreed on Fusion Interiors Group decided to combine a lodge feel with a subtle industrial feel internally. They did not want it to be trendy and date quickly so they designed it with this in mind. The concept was always their main focus because once the soul of the hotel is defined the spirit of the interior can live beyond trends.
