Congratulations to Laura Stein Interiors who have been shortlisted for a Living Space Global Award

design et al are delighted to announce that Laura Stein Interiors have been shortlisted for Living Space Global Award in The International Design And Architecture Awards 2016

The designer’s favourite element in these rooms is the black wallpaper with a subtle gold fleck used in the dining room. It works to tie the two rooms together, and gives a dramatic quality/atmosphere to the space. I decided to use it only on the main wall so it would act as a backdrop and not overwhelm the room. When seen from the living room it looks like an extension of that space, but it has enough personality to stand on its own and make the dining room a very distinctive area.
LauraSteinInteriors_ForestHill_LivingSpaceGlobal_ThumbnailThe rooms have a lot of character. The layering of materials, the mix of colour, and the variety of textures make these spaces vibrant yet formal. The interplay between the architectural details and the shapes of the furniture were carefully considered. Open and adjacent to each other, each room needed to relate to the other while maintaining their own distinct look.
LauraSteinInteriors_ForestHill_LivingSpaceGlobal_2The client’s taste was contemporary, but warm and comfortable. They liked strong hits of colour and bold contrasts in blue, red and orange. The client wanted to move in as quickly as possible so the design team had to decorate and make this house stylish and beautiful in a very limited time frame.
