design et al are delighted to announce that Wimberly Interiors have been shortlisted for Hotel Suite Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2016.

Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is a five- star hotel in Dubai connected to the award winning Mall, boasting some of the most unique and modern accommodations and experiences in the gulf . Wimberly Interiors had to create two distinct spaces in a large hotel, providing a unique ‘out of place’ experience for guests. The chalets and pool cabanas had to feel authentic but also be imbued with a sense of fantasy and play, designed with every luxury in mind.

Inspired by the luxuries of coastal living of the Florida Keys, the Aspen Pool Chalet rooms reflect flowing water and celebrate summer with neutral colours and textures. The rooms enclosed terraces give direct access to the hotel’s two outdoor infinity pools. Overlooking the slopes of Ski Dubai, the modern rustic design of the Aspen Ski Chalets offer the warmth of a cosy Aspen home. Natural woods and stone accents bring a true Alpine to the rooms. The colour palette of rich dark browns and ivory white. Equipped with state-of-the-art in- room technology, this intimate winter retreat is complete with a stone faux fireplace and a spacious marble bathroom. The opening of the Chalets coincided and were used as the celebration of Kempinski Mall of the Emirates opening.

The rooms speak to their location in the hotel (either overlooking the Ski Dubai slopes or opening up onto the pool deck) while still giving a residential feel that feels they are two vacation homes owned by the same family. Wimberly Interiors were able to utilise their entire global team and expert knowledge in order to create the chalets and cabanas – the design was developed by the New York and Dubai Studios (with support during the original design from Miami).
