Congratulations to Cream & Black Interior Design shortlisted for Residential Architectural Property Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2017

design et al are delighted to announce that Cream & Black Interior Design have been shortlisted for Residential Architectural Property Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.

Cream & Black Interior Design collaborated with an architectural glazing specialist to design and install a 6m high fully glazed structural extension, which included a mezzanine for their client’s library. Overall the brief was to merge modern architecture with the period property without disturbing the integrity of the building to creating a wonderful juxtaposition of old and new. Open plan living was key to the design, but it needed to be implemented in a contemporary yet comfortable way.
CAB-176Complete with all the modern necessities and conveniences, the client’s home retains its historic character in the existing structure’s architectural detailing but combines a well-considered and striking glass addition which adds interest and a sense of contemporary intricacy to the building. Large electronic sliding glass panels work perfectly in the new extension and increase the sense of openness to the space linking the interior to the outdoors also giving fantastic views across the substantial gardens that surround the client’s home.
CAB-113Cream & Black Interior Design were able to incorporate a mezzanine into their design which can be accessed through a first-floor lounge, they designed it as a contemporary library which has a large glass corner window with beautiful views of the grounds. The design works well because it’s both practical for modern day living and designed so that from each position inside you get a different snapshot of the landscaping and scenery beyond. Cream & Black installed a 3-sided fireplace to link the double height space with the living room which helps to define areas with minimal physical division.
CAB-78Cream & Black Interior Design combined traditional & contemporary kitchen cabinetry which link the period property to the modern extension, and sourced the beautiful Brazilian Marble at a local stonemason to wrap the large kitchen island in. The designers specified a surprise pop of colour to the kitchen island to add a fun element to their design. The designers wanted the kitchen to be a continuation of the open plan living space and to feel as important as the rest of the home. The whole space was designed with a special attention to mixing materials. This eclectic style runs through the property giving the client’s home an individual and very unique style. Cream & Black Interior Design have been established for 4 years, they have a small studio in the Midlands.
