design et al are delighted to announce that Deborah Law Interiors have been shortlisted for Living Space – UK Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.

Interior design led renovation of a large family home. Turning a rabbit warren of 4 previous extensions into a single luxury home for the family to enjoy.

To create a new layout where the whole family could enjoy time together, but also feel they have individual space for themselves was the main design objective for Deborah Law Interiors to tackle. It was also an important part of the design to be respectful to older parts of the house, Deborah Law Interiors successfully incorporated family heirlooms, alongside contemporary design with modern features, to create a home suitable for the whole family.

Deborah Law Interiors design brief outlined two living spaces but upon further design was able incorporate three. One in the central hub of the home, the kitchen. The second being in the formal drawing room and the third, thanks to Deborah’s vision of converting the garage and annex, into one double height entertainment suite to incorporate living, library, media and some entertainment space. Architecturally stunning from the outside and inside, the glass facade from floor to ceiling on one side really opens up the area and makes it feel at one.

The house design flows so well. At the entrance and oldest part of the house there is respectful design to original features such as wood panelling and solid wood floors. Moving onto a classic shaker style kitchen but with all mod cons, to the modern entertainment suite – creating several different living spaces for family togetherness and individual time. Having 5 entrances including double doors into the inner lobby and large sliding doors onto the drive, it has views across the north side of the property from the ground and mezzanine. From the upper garden looking back at the house – it’s a commanding view back onto the property now.
