. What direction do you feel yacht design is moving towards in general terms?
Now the yacht design is based on the two main tendencies: contemporary and stylish on the one hand and classical yacht forms on the other hand. Both tendencies have many admirers and followers. It depends on the customer profile which one to follow.
. What projects are you currently working on?
We are about to finish the Mulder 94 Voyager project with Mulder Shipyard, Frank Laupman (Omega Architects) and Vripack. The Mulder 94 project combines the canonical yacht forms with the latest technological content: modern classic in the initial sense of meaning. It’s a timeless, so called contemporary chic interior with a personal touch, where luxury and elegance can be found in every detail.
The pedigree 94 Voyager project aimed to bridge a gap in the current market, offering clients many features usually restricted to larger yachts.
This design enables the Owner and his guests to enjoy sublimely apportioned public spaces decorated in a clean, crisp fashion, in unsurpassed luxury and volume for a yacht of this length. With larger staterooms and communal spaces than many yachts of 100 meters increased length, and a best in class sun deck focused on entertaining, this design really does epitomise Dutch quality shipbuilding with modern elegance and design, delivering exceptional value and a feel of a much larger craft.
. How important are The International Yacht and Aviation Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?
These awards are known throughout the superyacht industry as giving a platform for yards, designers and architects of yacht projects of all types, sizes and budget ranges to be able to showcase their original, innovative and unique projects.
