What direction do you feel design is moving towards in general terms?

I think interior design of today can´t be too self important or too minimalisticly strict. It has to allow for alterations and changes, but still hold as something distinguished, self assured and recognisable.

What projects are you currently working on?

Chimney Studios media house in Stockholm and Red Bull Stockholm office.

A designer’s work is so diverse – how do you manage to hold down a career and a life?

I enjoy my work so it doesn´t wear me out mentally. I am also very good at separating the two – family and friends take over when I leave work. And I allow time to jog every morning.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2014 and beyond.

Design as a reflection of a group dynamic. A humbleness towards the clients ethics and persona. Don´t follow trends. Think sustainability. Dare to be personal.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?

Agree with the client on a distinct goal image and stick to it all through the design process.

How important are The International Design and Architecture Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?

Recognition is totally vital in keeping up standards and reaching out on a wider scale, both personally and for the entire profession. And it adds fun to our profession!

How do you relax?

I don’t turn the computer on. I read, cook, don’t make too many plans…spend time outdoors and with family and friends.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

Careerwise – to challenge our office to do even more artistically cutting edge projects.

Final thoughts; tell us a little more about yourself:

The car you drive? – I hardly know…but it´s a Subaru Forrester

Your favourite place to travel to in the world? – Italy and any mountain ski resort

Your favourite hotel/ restaurant/ bar? – Chalet Gerard in the Dolomites. And the coffee shop Kaffe round the corner from the office!

The place that gives you the most energy? – A busy city – London, Rome, Barcelona….

And the place that enables you to totally relax? – Open, quiet spaces….

Your favourite food and drink? – Italian food and wine

Anything else interesting? – Lighting design is being more and more integrated in all kinds of design projects, from an early start. That is really exciting to me, knowing the difference it makes to any design.
