Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
I have a background in business fundamentals, psychology of sales, marketing and dedicated customer service and have also worked alongside many realtors. I completed the interior design program at BCIT and obtained the NCIDQ license, and I use all the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the 17 years in all of my projects.

How would you describe your personal design style?
The signature style is West coast contemporary with an elegant traditional twist. However this is not limited to the one style, I can fulfil all the design needs of my clients no matter their preferred style.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
Inspiration comes from culture, travel, and quality of life to create harmony and overall balance. The design philosophy is simply in the name of my company SUBLIME. It is truly divine, transcendent and stately.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
The key for the future is to harmonise and balance the space – “mix and mesh”. This does not mean eclectic with in contrast of design, styles, colour, and scale, which typically creates accepted friction. “Mix and mesh” is an all style embracing, using harmony and balance.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2020 and beyond.

  1. Understanding cultures and having a strong sense for multi cultural diversity that reflects in the space for the end user.
  2. We are a product of our environment, so it is important to ensure that the environment is equipped with anything the end user needs.
  3. Technology is constantly growing which allows us to provide clients with beautiful products that save money, reduce the impact on the planet, as well as offer other uses.
  4. Accessibility and ageing in place should always be considered and practised, because it’s a benefit for all users and the future.
  5. Everything contains energy and it is important to insure that all the energy within the home harmonises with one another there, for Feng shui is also important.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?
Size and scale is everything – know your size but understand the scale that works for the space/client.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
They are important because they allow people to share the different types of styles, designs, applications, and talent throughout the world.

What projects are you currently working on?
Currently I am working on some luxury mansions and multi-family residences.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
Our goal for the next twelve months is to continue to grow and allow change, adapt and create all the while enjoying the process and our wonderful clients.

Tell us a little more about yourself and your daily inspirations:

Your most treasured possession?
Princess Diana chair signed by her brother Charles Earl Spencer and the mother of pearl bowl received on the set and stage design for Sir Sydney Paitier.

Your favourite holiday destination?
New York because I’m inspired by the city’s strength. Italy because I’m inspired by the history and finally China because it inspires me for the future.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?
Baccarat Hotel New York because it is central Manhattan & a luxury 5 star hotel and the Ultra Violet restaurant in Shanghai because it is avant-garde and like a private dining symphony.

Your favourite food and drink?
Italian, because it typically consists of 5 ingredients and it is delicious! My favourite drink would be the Italian signature cocktail “The Negroni” curated in 1919, made up of gin, vermouth and campari.
