Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
I am a Certified Interior Designer from University Of Alberta and graduate with a fashion design diploma. I am also the founder and manager of a successful Edmonton, Alberta based three tier firm offering Interior design services, renovations, and home staging services. All of our projects are focused on both residential and commercial realms.
How would you describe your personal design style?
My personal design style is sophisticated, luxe modern, refined with much respect to detail
Where does your design inspiration come from?
My inspirations come from the ability to connect with the energy of each space and understanding the vision of the client.
What direction is design moving towards?
I think design is, always has, and will continue to move in the direction of emotion and functionality. This can be any style of design. Beautiful design that does not compromise functionality and functionality that does not compromise beautiful design.
Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2020 and beyond.
Emotion, Functionality, Sustainability, Beauty, Comfort
If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?
Understand colour and the psychology behind it, this is one of the most important ingredients in the success of a project. The correct colours with the correct colour temperatures to accommodate the design concept. This will also set the tone for all other design elements that will play a role in the project.
How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
Incredibly important. Not only is it a reflection of global excellence in skill, talent, and workmanship, but it is an incredible milestone to the carefully selected nominees and winners that conveys and nourishes better work and the drive to never stop creating.
What projects are you currently working on?
Custom estate homes, numerous Infill designs, commercial dermatology renovation, and numerous local home stages.
What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
Extreme creativity and attention to detail, maintaining a strong team, develop new business relationships, and nourish the existing ones.
