design et al are delighted to announce that Elemento has been shortlisted for Residential £1-£2.5 Million (Property by Value) Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.

Elemento design team were commissioned to fully renovate an existing 4-bedroom property villa in a light and airy contemporary style including a new powder room, new feature staircase and open kitchen. Situated in The Palm Jumeirah, a high-end luxurious residential area the designers ensured a modern contemporary style perfectly reflecting the lifestyle in Dubai, the surrounding area and the clients.

The existing solid staircase was to be replaced with an open tread staircase. They removed the dividing blockwork wall and first floor balustrade, and designed a modern cantilever staircase with walnut timber steps finished with a clear glass handrail. The existing living space was to be opened and large fully folding glass doors to be fitted. Internal walls have been removed to create an open-plan living and dining space with an open kitchen, new windows through the dining area and sliding doors to take one out to the patio area.

The curtains were created and installed throughout to compliment the new colour schemes and fittings. All existing interior doors and bedroom closets have been repainted in a modern light colour, and new door ironmongery and cabinet handles fitted. The favourite aspect of the project was said to be the feature staircase leading onto the open plan living space, perfectly matching the client’s requirements whilst transforming the style of the existing villa. Elemento - Villa 56The client requested a family kitchen with feature storage for wine and glassware. A bespoke open kitchen with central island unit and high-end appliances has been designed, with a hidden door into the back kitchen to blend with the finishes. The cabinets are finished in a modern high-gloss white lacquer and walnut, and the island unit is a feature Arabescato marble. The first-floor bedrooms and hallway have had a new walnut parquet floor finish, with the wall finishes being updated with a fresh modern colour scheme throughout. A new ground floor powder room with shower was to be formed within the existing floor space.

Elemento designed a walk-in shower which makes the most of the available floor space, with a full height frosted feature window to maximise the daylight. The finishes are a light travertine wall and floor with matte nickel fittings. New fittings and a marble finish were requested in the master bathroom, shower room and toilet. Matte white bathroom components, a freestanding stone bathtub and chrome fittings were installed with book-matched Statuario marble used for the wall and floor finish. A feature basin surround with mirrored niches has been designed to give a contemporary minimalist feeling.Elemento - Villa 56
