design et al are delighted to announce that Interiors by Sarah Ward have been shortlisted for Bedroom Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
Project Kaliopi was carried out for a private client in Kensington. Owing to the property being newly built, Interiors by Sarah Ward were hired solely for FF&E. The brief here was to create a home away from home, the client wanted something cosy and warm to come back to on their visits to London. Interiors by Sarah Ward incorporated bespoke joinery throughout the property creating furniture specific to their clients wants and needs. The scheme throughout the property features beautiful warm autumnal tones such as burnt orange and walnut creating a sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere throughout the scheme.
The property has large windows which let an incredible amount of light in. It was important that Interiors by Sarah Ward installed curtain sheers that did not reduce the amount of light coming in but kept the client’s privacy. Using the tall ceiling height to their advantage Interiors by Sarah Ward wanted to incorporate wallpaper and add large pieces of artwork to create impact where possible.
A great amount of thought went into the master bedroom design and scheme. The client opted for cooler, calm colour palette to create the ultimate space for relaxation. With a ceiling height of 3m Interiors by Sarah Ward enjoyed creating a grand headboard design. They discussed incorporating several finishes such as, beautiful Eucalyptus Mundy Veneer and a bronze mirror to enhance the beautiful brightness the room has to offer and enlarged the space further. Interiors by Sarah Ward softened the design with suede upholstery and adding pattern through the soft furnishings.
The artwork was carefully chosen carrying on the sense of calm the designers set out to achieve. A space was left in the centre of the headboard showing the wallpaper coming through. Interiors by Sarah Ward installed gorgeous wall sculptures from Quintessa Art adding intricate detail to the design. Considered layering in the scheme was important to bring the room together and succeed in creating the client a beautiful place to recharge and rejuvenate.
