Congratulations to J. Fisher Interiors shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Global Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2018

design et al are delighted to announce that J.Fisher Interiors have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Global Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.

This stunning Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home sits on the banks of Lake Austin. Minimalist furnishings and a restrained colour palette emphasize the feeling of openness and help to focus the attention on the breath-taking river views. J.Fisher Interiors updated every surface and furniture piece of this client’s lake side stunner. Looking at this light-filled home on Lake Austin, it’s hard to imagine it ever looking anything but sunny and bright. And yet, one glance at the old space reveals dim lighting, dated features, and lots of beige.

The client is a hard worker that travels most of the time, so when he’s home, he likes to lounge and enjoy his view of the lake. He wanted the design to complement his lifestyle where he didn’t have to turn the lights on all the time and furnishings that didn’t require a lot of fluffing to keep their shape. For that reason, J.Fisher Interiors selected Benjamin Moore’s Decorator White for the entire house and pieces with tight upholstery such as the pair of Platner high back lounge chairs in the living room and the vintage Dieter Rams 620 easy chair in the den.

The kitchen was updated and features custom white oak butcher-block counters, but the real attention grabber is the Calcutta Borgini Gold island with perfectly book matched waterfall panels and the pair of vintage Saturno Pendant Lamps by Kazuo Motozawa, J.Fisher Interiors found in Barcelona, Spain. The master bathroom was completely remodelled and made larger by taking over some unused space in the master closet. It features walls clad in the most beautiful Zebrino Black & Gold marble and Atlas exposed plumbing fixtures by Waterworks. A Kelly Wearstler designed fixture hangs over the tub and ties in the brass cantilevered pulls and vanity lights.

In the last phase of the project J.Fisher Interiors designed the Ipe clad outdoor kitchen to look as if it was there all along by integrating it into the structure of the house itself. It features bar seating for 7 next to the adjacent dining area for 6. JFi also extended the pool decking to accommodate two additional loungers and updated all the furnishing on the dock for sunset viewing with a glass of wine. The design works so well because it’s elegant, yet approachable. When guests visit they do not feel afraid to touch anything. The living area is warm and inviting and designed to entertain.
