This client’s home was designed for gracious entertaining. The homeowners enjoy hosting parties for 10 to 200 people and the home was designed to accommodate these fetes alongside meeting the needs of everyday life. With the interesting juxtaposition of classic exterior and contemporary interior the client’s home is a uniquely modern home for Houston TX. The design embodies the Laura U Interior Design signature elements: light, bright, bold, and contrasting. The use of striking textural materials, custom wall coverings, and statement stones woven throughout create one-of-a kind home.
Laura U Interior Design incorporated timeless black and white with carefully considered injections of colour throughout the home. This is topped off with dramatic decorative lighting throughout. The voluminous open plan is also the perfect backdrop for displaying the homeowners’ growing art collection. The generous gallery-style spaces allow the right amount of breathing room to truly appreciate each work of art. The statement focal walls were clad in specialty stones and are seen throughout the home (kitchen island, master shower wall, master fireplace wall). One Laura U Interior Design’s favourite spaces is the boutique style, two-story closet for her that fits homeowner’s passion and love for fashion collectibles.
The home beautifully connects to the exterior environment with floor to ceiling windows, sliding doors in the kitchen/breakfast area and a gentleman’s lounge. The home is designed for seamless interior and exterior living and entertaining. The exterior was as carefully considered as the interior, from the lounge spaces to the pool surrounded by fire features, to the bocce court.
The design truly reflects the homeowners style and Italian heritage with inclusion of design elements such as the cantina off the wine room and the garage showcasing a collection of Italian luxury sports cars. Every aspect of the home was custom designed with attention to detail like custom contemporary moulding design, custom interior and front doors, grand entry staircase, great room millwork, rugs, and furnishings throughout. All were scaled for the gracious size of each space.
