Congratulations to Llama Group shortlisted for Kitchen Design Over £100,000 Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2017

design et al are delighted to announce that Llama Group have been shortlisted for Kitchen Design over £100,000 Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.

The Llama Group was instructed by their client to look at the complete redesign and extension of their existing property, which involved several extensions as well as removing all the existing ground and 1st floors to enable a complete redesign of these floors. This was to maximise floor space as well as head room with the reduction of the ground floor level and introduction of a new internal steel frame so that the depth of the 1st floor construction could be reduced to a minimum also. In the newly formed kitchen/living area, the original external wall was opened up and a new contemporary extension added.Llama GroupThe architects wanted to introduce a modern, contemporary extension, that not only helped to preserve the integrity of the original period cottage but also created a visual link to the large, modern entertainment building which was also created on the site. This extension to the main kitchen/dining area was carefully designed with the new ground and 1st floor levels so that this new ceiling ran seamlessly through from the existing cottage and new kitchen area, into the newly created dining area within this extension. This was vital as even though Llama Group had maximised every available inch of head room, it was still tight and they wanted this area to feel as open and connected as was possible.Llama GroupThe new addition completed this new kitchen area, with wall to wall Skyframe that maximised the views to the extensive gardens, and when opened, had no supports/structures to hinder the view, so that the whole corner of the room was completely open to the bri solet, in the summer months you can dine inside or out with no apparent divide. This was achieved by clever installation of the Skyframe System, with integrated drainage allowing seamless continuation of the flooring and ceiling finish from the inside to the covered outside area. New underfloor heating and a complete AV system was also installed with Crestron & Lutron Automation and Control over all of the Lighitng and AV. Llama Group worked with their partners at Kitchen Architecture who supplied the stylish Bautaulp B3 Kitchen and Gaggenau Applicances, to design a large kitchen that was stunning to look at in this newly created room, but also gave all the functionality the clients needed with their large family and frequent entertaining.Llama GroupThe Kitchen area is part of a much larger overall project Llama Group undertook at this property, but as arguably the key room in any home, how this room was created and extended had a huge effect on not only how the rest of the house was designed and laid out internally, but also externally with the exterior architecture and design. An amazing Bulthaup Kitchen mixed with Llama Group’s own designed furniture and custom pieces from across Europe completed this successful key area, which of course extended throughout the rest of the house.
