Lonni Paul

Congratulations to Lonni Paul Design shortlisted for Residential £5 Million Plus (Project by Value) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2017

design et al are delighted to announce that Lonni Paul Design have been shortlisted for Residential £5 Million Plus (Project by Value) Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.

This project involved a 15,000-square foot classic modern farmhouse on 4 acres in Montana. A young couple from Wyoming who live and work in Los Angeles wanted to build their dream home in the area where they were raised. Most of their family had moved to the neighbouring state of Montana so they decided the Bitterroot Valley was the place they would call home. This gorgeous area is where the Robert Redford/Brad Pitt film, A River Runs Through It, was filmed. The building of this home was truly a labour of love. It is not just a house, it’s a beloved home that will remain in their family for decades to come. This was a ground up build and Lonni Paul Design worked through winters and summers but it was always a joy.
Lonni PaulThe home is large, 15,000 square feet, but every inch was meticulously thought out and designed. The owners wanted an old house feel but a new house sensibility and function. Lonni Paul Design believe they really found a balance here. The designers worked on this project from LA and in Montana. There was a definite synchronicity between the clients and Lonni Paul Design. A lot of trust. The designers are now also working with the same clients on a modern penthouse in Los Angeles. The designers believe that the use of materials from the environment i.e.: stone, rock and the reclaimed wood really helped integrate the design into the wider environment. All the cabinetry was hand made. The wall panels, designed by Lonni Paul, were specially made for the home.  The reclaimed wood used for the ceilings and floors was salvaged from old barns in the area and stained with a natural oil stain to retain the old beauty.  The rocks on the fireplace are found on the land around the home.
Lonni Paul DesignLonni Paul Design made sure to balance the old with the new, finding gorgeous antique furniture and amazing old objects made of brass to an extensive antique silhouette collection.  Mixing those pieces of history with new textiles and clean lined upholstery pieces truly brought the project to the level the designers had hoped for and worked so hard to make a reality. Lonni Paul Design loved working with the owners to find the special antique pieces of furniture and pieces of art that make the home so unique and special. The builders were integral to the success of the project because they took such pride in their work and it shows in the final product. I love working with people and trades that take pride in their work and go the extra mile to make sure the outcome is perfect! That was definitely the case on the project.
