design et al are delighted to announce that Luis Design GmbH have been shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million (Project by Value) Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
The brief for this project was to make the impossible possible and to design all the furniture in marble or granite within this luxurious penthouse. Luis Design love to work with marble and granite, they believe that these materials have been used as architectural status symbols for millennia and that they still have a place in today’s design and architecture. The team of designers and engineers were commissioned to create a complete set of furnishings from granite or marble, this included kitchen fixtures, couches, sideboards, cabinets, sinks etc. In this project, Luis Design have maintained a monochromatic design scheme, which exudes the feeling of being in a luxury hotel in a much warmer country.
Due to a system developed by Luis Design, the clients have the option to combine each piece of furniture with semiprecious stones, metal, wood, glass, leather and fabric, based on their own personal preferences. Luis Design have even made it possible to change the combination of materials at a later date, offering the most adaptable and convenient décor. This also means that the clients receive unique pieces that are completely tailormade based on their exclusive input and needs. The property benefits from floor to ceiling windows, which fill and reflect the rooms in natural light due to the reflective stone materials used.
This project, which is a 300 square foot penthouse, took around 2 years to complete due to the exclusive design and customisation of the furniture by Luis Design. Obviously, the key aspect for this project was the luxury marble and granite furniture, the designers believe that the whole property works so well because is it unique, contemporary, and not something you would find most designers doing.
