design et al are delighted to announce that M. Frederick Design have been shortlisted for Living Space – Global Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.

The design brief for M. Frederick Design was to create an interiors scheme for the entire residence that included full kitchen and bath renovations. M. Frederick Design were engaged to create a family space in a newly acquired residence in the Mendham Borough of New Jersey. It was required that the home was to meet the needs of daily living, but also to showcase the family’s growing art collection and their need for formal entertaining spaces throughout the year.

The residence had really interesting architectural details that M. Frederick Design were able to modify and highlight to the great satisfaction of the homeowners. The kitchen and great room both stand out as completely transformed spaces that are very sophisticated and useful on a daily basis. The perfect combination of modern design and a traditional home, in a beautiful and architectural property. The great room benefits from large vaulted ceilings and surrounding windows which allow natural light to seep into the room from any angle.

M. Frederick Design believe that the design works so well because they were able to “correct” some issues with room proportions with their design concept and thereby exceeding the expectations of their clients. The designers leveraged existing architectural details like panelling and millwork into their design concept to blend existing elements with new or added details that they layered in the design scheme, which perfectly integrates the design into the wider environment. All the furnishings were designed in M. Frederick Design’s office and manufactured to their specifications. This bespoke attention always imparts a custom feel to a project that you can never achieve with catalogued items.
