DESIGNWILKES SDN BHD have been shortlisted for Hotel Suite Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2020.
MO Tokyo Presidential Suite by DESIGNWILKES SDN BHD Inspired by gardens and bonsai, the Presidential Suite is a beautiful reference to nature, conjuring a feeling of walking in a park, including specially commissioned photographic wall artwork depicting inspirational treescapes from Tokyo’s parks. Featuring an abundance of natural daylight and several distinctive seating areas, the living room is the perfect spot for enjoying cocktails and there is a separate library.
The suite draws on Japan’s rich culture, to provide guests with a strong “sense of place”. Japanese craftsmanship has been combined with the latest technology to ensure a thoroughly contemporary Japanese experience. The nature-theme continues in the dining room, which is dressed with a photographic mural depicting sun shining through the tree branches from one of Tokyo’s stunning parks. The dining room’s ceiling light resembles the sun and its cabinets are decorated with motifs of birds, butterflies and plants.
The bedroom ceiling is created to give the illusion of looking at the sky through trees, while its carpet design evokes the world of Origami. Offering sweeping views across Tokyo, the bathroom is equipped with a bathtub that has built-in fibre optic lighting that turns the bathwater into a brilliant, brimming bowl of colour. When visible, the splendour of Mount Fuji can be viewed from any part of the Presidential Suite.
The designs aim was reinventing a suite that Design Wilkes had previously designed 15 years ago. Lightening the mood, creating a smart casual atmosphere as we brought the garden indoors. It is fresh, comfortable ,elegant and flexible, suitable for a family or entertaining. It closely follows the Hotel design theme of “Woods and Water”, as well as pays homage to the surrounding neighbourhood. Pein Lee was commissioned to photograph gardens and parks in the area so we could select images for walls and bedroom ceiling. Custom embroidered fabrics from Nuno were used for selected upholstery and cushions.
