ML Home Design have been shortlisted for Luxury Residence – London Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2021.
The client purchased an old semidetached residential building in the heart of Chelsea which needed to be refurbished and upgraded to accommodate a family of five. The brief for ML Home Design was to create a modern, stylish, and elegant home for all the family and also for entertaining family friends.
Working together with architect Seth Stein, ML Home Design created the perfect area to accommodate the multiple requirements for this home. In particular, the newly sectioned areas of the property were perfect for entertaining with the kitchen and family dining area being the focal point of the house on the ground floor. Through clever planning, this area also opens up into the outdoor / garden area where the client’s children can play and relax.
The owner also wanted a house to showcase their impressive and precious collection of African art which they had built up over the years, this area was created in the double storey living room, ensuring that the pieces can be seen from various parts of the home. The use of different texture and material has been carefully selected from the outset to create a warm and totally unique atmosphere. The first floor is dedicated completely to the master bedroom.
In the modern world, it’s important for designers to make their designs as sustainable as possible, as such ML Home Design have incorporated the latest technology to make the house as energy efficient as possible.
ML Home Design believe that the project was so successful because it is modern and elegant but at the same time unique, not adhering to current trends. The key aspect of this project was the teamwork between everyone involved in creating this home and making each aspect play its own part, from choosing the flooring, the fabrics and the furniture.
