design et al are delighted to announce that Mary Jones Wallpaper has been shortlisted for the Wallcovering Award in The Product Design Categories within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017
The Uncovered Wallcovering originates from a small area under the stairs of designer, Mary Jones’ house. It revealed multiple layers of vintage wallpapers that dated back to the 1800’s. Mary Jones first discovered this whilst removing wallpaper amidst decorating, she adored the section so much it remains an untouched statement of wallpaper history in her house, Designer, Mary Jones imagined that anyone in a profession other than a designer would have destroyed or painted over the artefact. The findings inspired her to bring it to life and re-invent into a beautiful wallpaper – now known as Uncovered.
Uncovered is digitally printed in the UK on a parchment paper, giving the wallcovering a handmade look and textured feel adding to the quality of the design. The wall covering works perfectly for both home and commercial interiors, and also available in two colour ways; Antique – rich warm colours close to the original; Stone – a natural stone palette, softer than the original.
Mary is both the creative and managing director of Mary Jones Design, established in 1982 the studio has been running successfully for over 30 years, designing internationally for home and contract furnishing products. Mary Jones Wallpaper offers a range of digitally printed wallpapers and is also able to offer bespoke wallpaper services by converting to order from her extensive design studio archives.
