design et al are delighted to announce that MASSIMO Interiors have been shortlisted for Luxury Residence – Asia Pacific Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
MASSIMO Interiors were asked to decorate a salon area for a young family of four. Having previously been cold and uninviting, the room needed some serious TLC and a redesign. The client brief for the project was to create an elegant, sumptuous yet comfortable formal salon to entertain friends and family. The client wanted a room with a wow factor and a level of luxury you may find in a 5-star hotel. Being the first room to be seen when entering the property, it was imperative that the style set the tone for the rest of the house.
After living in this property for seven years, the clients could not envisage how to use this large space and left it empty. When MASSIMO Interiors first walked into this large living area they felt the space was bland with a monochromatic colour scheme. The designers immediately recognised the potential of this space, as it was almost a blank canvas featuring white walls, a plain fireplace and a neutral tiled floor. For MASSIMO Interiors, the style of furniture and overall room appeal was taken into consideration when designing this salon. It needed to work with the architectural style of the home whether linking to the external façade or internal detailing.
MASSIMO Interiors believe that the design works well within this project because the positioning of furniture maximizes the floor space and it is zoned into separate yet connected entertainment areas. There is a central and symmetric arrangement staged by an oval rug dominated by a mirrored fireplace, which takes centre stage. Additional seating either sides of this area call for a more intimate gathering by the window or by the buffet/bar. Another fundamental central element is a beautiful vintage Murano Glass chandelier. The hero in this setting, it dominates the ceiling becoming a talking point. Olive green silk drapes enhance symmetry and ceiling heights along with a hand painted wallpaper, which catches your eye immediately.
