Moor Design have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Canada Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2020.
Moor Design took inspiration from classic black and white New York loft spaces and the minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic, and blended these elements together to make a space that would fit just right for the young family’s lifestyle. The design vision was to create a unique modern home that was the perfect fusion of taking design risks while also creating a family-friendly home that’s inviting and relaxed.
The owners are a young family from Vancouver who wanted to build their forever home, and had asked Moor Design to ensure that the house was high functioning, but to still feel welcoming. The outcome is a unique home that boasts a beautiful Craftsman exterior and an interior that’s a modern take on the traditional. Moor Design’s work is a perfect blend of both masculine and feminine, which creates an inviting and welcoming family home for everyone; mixing Scandinavian style with chic minimalism. The west coast colour palette of British Columbia, Canada is reflected in the interior design finishes by using warm and inviting woods throughout. Moor Design also chose to keep the space open, using white brick to tie many of the design elements together and the contrasting black and white theme that is carried out throughout, and bright through natural light within the home.
The welcoming main floor features a beautiful monochromatic powder room, playful and vibrant kid’s playroom, custom banquette seating in the dining area and a bright and cosy open concept living room and kitchen. The living room features a custom temperature-controlled wine storage area and floor to ceiling white brick that visually connects the space. The bright central staircase leads up to the second level, which features three large bedrooms, laundry room and master bathroom with walk-in curbless shower. The backyard has a custom built-in BBQ area for hosting outdoor parties and relaxing as a family. The home that Moor Design has created is inviting to the homeowners and guest alike and evokes a sense of comfort and ease for their family lifestyle.
