Nordhavn Yachts - VivieRae II

Congratulations to Nordhavn Yachts shortlisted for Power Yacht 25 – 40 Metres Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2018

Luxe et al are delighted to announce that Nordhavn Yachts have been shortlisted for the Power Yacht 25 – 40 Metres Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2018.

VivieRae has mega-yacht styling, luxury and the capability to travel the world, all within a manageable 30 meters. The owners of this yacht previously owned a Nordhavn 86, which has exceptional global-cruising capabilities, but they wanted a boat that could host more friends and family, specifically requesting more space for crew, additional outdoor living space and a proper skylounge. Jeff Leishman and his team created a world-class cruising vessel of exceptional quality and capabilities, with a luxurious interior, and functional yet relaxing exterior spaces, that mimics those of mega-yachts for the highest level of comfort imaginable, no matter how remote their itinerary.

One key aspect of the project was achieving the owners’ desire for a skylounge. Pacific Asian Enterprises met this request by designing a big skylounge aft of the pilothouse outfitted with pull-out sofa, desk, and 65” television enabling multi-purpose uses for lounging, working or a bonus sleeping quarters. Electric sliding doors open up to the skylounge deck featuring a bar, bar stools, drinks fridge, BBQ, and of course, a spectacular view – everything you need for entertaining.

To meet the owner’s request for additional interior space for guests, VivieRae was designed with three proper staterooms with heads for guests. The 10-foot space bump and intelligent space floor-traffic planning allowed the owner to add a fifth crew member causing less impact than his four-person crew did on his previous boat. It is important to recognize how much design and thought goes into the creation of a semi-custom/custom yacht. There are so many aspects to consider from the capability and safety of the boat, to meeting the owners’ specific criteria and making sure engineering and aesthetics harmonize with each other.

For the owners, their yachts are a source of pure enjoyment, a place to get away from the rigors of everyday life, a haven in which to spend time with the people they love most, so the design must be pleasing in every sense from style, to comfort, to ergonomics, to space planning. Every element that goes into the engineering and design of a yacht needs to be done so with a specific purpose. Each light, step, locker, hand hold, hallway, hatch, and wall hanging needs to exist and be placed that makes the most sense. VivieRae II has been designed to ensure that her owners can go to any corner of the boat and not have to think or question why certain items were engineered or installed the way they were. Their only job is to appreciate that it all works wonderfully.
