Pan-Asian Restaurant For ‘New Brand’ 5-Star Hotel, Shortlisted For International Design Award

Ohm, a Pan-Asian restaurant at Hydohm1erabad’s new Avasa Hotel has just been shortlisted for the International Design & Architecture ‘Restaurant Within A Hotel Award’ 2013.

The idea behind Ohm,  which was submitted by interior design practice Poole Associates Private Limited, was to create a memorable Pan-Asian restaurant within a 5-star ‘new brand’ hotel.

“The interiors are contemporary, with the predominant use of teak planking, glass, bamboo, bronze and Ballies (a local timber that was used for the ceilings).

The main design feature is an abstract work ‘Five-Sticks’ by Australian artist Tony Twigg. Oriental touches are subtly reflected in the woven rattan panels on the walls, the bespoke Buddha Hair Urns, candle lamps, and the use of Narumi crockery. Level changes and low partitions in the plan allow for semi private spaces that offer intimacy. The calm atmosphere and rich materials of the space contrast with the minimalist sleekness of the hotel lobby.”
