Olive Design Studio has been Shortlisted for a Residential £1-2.5 Million (Property by Value) Award

design et al are delighted to announce the Olive Design Studio has been shortlisted for a Residential £1-2.5 Million (Property by Value) Award in the International Design and Architecture Awards 2016.

The brief was to create an eclectic, open plan dining, living and kitchen space which was functional, practical and included allot of storage.

With building regulations in place, particularly with regard to the Kitchen should a fire occur, the team designed a bespoke glass crittal feature partition between the kitchen and living space which still kept the light and open plan feel whilst also adding a unique personality to the space. The designers introduced eclectic tiles into the Kitchen from Artisans of Devizes, which added another dimension to the bespoke Bulthaup Kitchen. Olive Design Studio also re-wired the apartment to create an abundance of light. The apartment was also challenging in terms of spatial planning and furniture layouts so most pieces were designed bespoke.

The designers mentioned that they particularly loved designing the bespoke Bulthaup Kitchen with the striking crittall glass wall and patterned decorative floor tiles. The design of the kitchen helps to open up the space & let light flow through the interior – a complete contrast to the original layout which consisted of a small shut off kitchen and dark corridor.
