René Dekker Design Limited reach the shortlist with a second incredible project…

René Dekker Design Limited have reached the International Design and Architecture Awards 2013 shortlist with a second project, also shortlisted for the Residential £2.5-5 million Award (view the original shortlisted project here). The property is located at St Georges Hill, Surrey.

Design brief: The clients wanted minimal building work done to the house but requested new lighting throughout and bespoke wardrobes to all bedrooms. The wardrobes included, amongst other things, special pull out racks for trousers, tie and belt drawers, shoe drawers and trinket trays.

They also wanted a complete makeover to lift the tired interior. Whilst they were after a chic and luxurious feel, it also had to suit their four children and this balance was achieved through the décor. In the adult areas, the walls were hung with fine silk wall paper whilst in the breakfast room and the childrens’ bedrooms, high quality vinyl wall coverings were used which gave the appearance of grass cloth and silk, with the benefit of easy maintenance. Finally, the soft furnishings completed the scheme using a neutral and fairly limited palette to create a flow throughout this family home.
