Rockwell Collins: Seripa

Congratulations to Rockwell Collins shortlisted for Concept Cabin Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2018

Luxe et al are delighted to announce that Rockwell Collins have been shortlisted for Concept Cabin Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2018.

Seripa is an all aisle access, modern and distinctive premium class seat concept. The brief was to create a modern outlook and innovative business class outward facing herringbone seat. The lowered furniture aesthetic should provide full privacy for the customer, yet maintains an uncluttered and clear cabin visual. It should also ensure that an above average stowage and amenities is incorporated for the customer. To ensure maximum comfort, the design should meet required density yields of a modern herringbone seat and be in a neat formation, facing forward on all positions with a lesser angle if possible.

There should be direct aisle access for all passengers so free movement around the cabin is easily accessible. Seripa can also transform into a full flat 180 degrees bed, so passengers are able to take advantage on long haul journeys including a seat width that should be at least a comfortable 20” with 2.5” arm rests. Furthermore, to ensure the passengers safety, the design will use trim materials that pass flammability testing.

The seat design and feel is more advanced than a typical layflat seat that is seen in the market today and along with the lower furniture aspect combined with a sleek visual aspect, this is what makes the design project even more unique. The design works well due to the nesting and lower privacy shells, alongside the connected ribbon theme which then ties the product into a resolved design. The integration of the electronics and controls is a restrained, yet sophisticated balance.
