Congratulations to Ronald Lu & Partners shortlisted for Lobby/Public Areas Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2018

design et al are delighted to announce that Ronald Lu & Partners have been shortlisted for Lobby/Public Areas Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2018.

Together, the Hyatt Place Shanghai Hongqiao CBD and the Hyatt House Shanghai Hongqiao CBD hotels aim to create a trendy, cosy and spacious hospitality experience which is accented by modern Shanghai touches. The spacious foyer at the main entrance is a transitional space between the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels. A beige tone stone finish with a feature skylight in this area are applied to make it a simple, neutral space. A specially-designed hanging lighting feature on the skylight and a huge feature wall painting here act as focal points for the foyer.

To the left of the foyer is the main public area of the Hyatt Place, which serves as the hotel lobby, host station and offers a number of other services such as a market, e-room, a bar/cafe, and a dining and cooking station. The beige tone stone floor is continued from the foyer into this area and accentuated with a light colour wood finish and offset by vibrant, colourful furniture pieces, an elegant pendant lamp, elongated display shelves and a custom-made elongated bronze feature screen. These elements give the hotel a contemporary, fashionable look. Shanghainese elements – both old and new – are incorporated in the custom-made area rug, while the colour theme and soft furnishings in the lounge area reflect the local cultural atmosphere.

The Hyatt House hotel is located on the right side of the foyer. Here, the design intent was to create an immediately comforting home-like space for busy professionals, project teams and family travellers who are looking for the comforts of home for extended stays. The reception area, which connects to the market area, is defined by series of elongated fluted glass panels. The white colour stone counter with its refined details and adjacent seating area creates an informal and relaxing welcome for guests entering the hotel. Next to the reception area is the lounge and dining space with its warm grey wood veneer panelling, comfortable sofas, and lounge chairs. Accentuated by a harmonious colour selection, this area becomes a cosy living room-like space for all guests of the hotel.
