Some designers have a very unique style which works well for them and provides customers with exactly what they require. On the other hand, it is extremely satisfying to come across an interior designer who’s skills and imagination are so versatile that they can produce a range of equally distinguished and yet completely individual designs. Sarah Barnard certainly falls into the second category. Her projects range from the light, airy “Ocean Avenue Penthouse” through to the “ Cosmopolitan Craftsman” featuring lots of stone and a beautiful log fire.

My favourite of the bunch has to be the “California Mediterranean Estate”, which features a simply exquisite kitchen. I may have been swayed by the inviting bread, cheese and wine laid out on the work surface but one view of this kitchen will have you picturing the delights of the French Riviera. Oak leaf and acorn motifs match with the rest of the home and the slick, stylish marble worktops contrast with the homely dark wooden cupboards to give a truly European feel. Embossed concrete tiling works extremely well above the hob and an integrated coffee machine and wine cooler enhance the European sentiment.
