Shawn Sowers is a principal designer at Sauder and the creative director for many pieces within Sauders’ furniture offerings. Drawing inspiration from different countries; antique shops in Italy to quaint boutiques in Scandinavia, Sowers’ principal culture to implement into his designs is that of Scandinavia, with the use of round edges, unfinished wood and warm colours.

Sauder Woodworking Co. started in 1934 with Erie Sauder’s home woodworking business in Archbold, Ohio, USA. Primarily the creator of bespoke cabinetry and church pews, Sauder decided to use the leftover wood to create small tables. 6 years later, the creations caught the eye of a salesman who ordered 25,000 units. From this, the company grew from strength to strength and now employs about 2,000 craftsmen.
