designLSM have achieved further shortlist success in the International Hotel & Property Awards 2014 after being shortlisted for the Bar/Club/Lounge Award with The Lounge Bar Funicular in Georgia. They will also compete for the Restaurant Award.
The Lounge Bar offers sophisticated cocktails in perhaps Tbilisi’s most sophisticated setting, with frescoes inside and an amazing view from the terrace.
designLSM were commissioned to design the interiors for a disused 1930s building on Mtatsminda Hill, overlooking the city of Tbilisi in Georgia. The carefully restored building incorporates three restaurants, a bar, conference and banqueting facilities. The client’s vision was to create a destination venue to attract a broad range of visitors to this stunning location, accessible only by a restored funicular railway.
Located in a much loved and carefully restored historic city landmark, the Funicular enjoys stunning views across the city. The building’s façades and many original features have been carefully preserved, while the interiors were rebuilt to the highest standards, with old and new sitting alongside each other throughout the interior. Following exploratory site visits to the now sadly dilapidated building, designLSM was very excited to be working on a concept that transformed two floors into two family friendly relaxed restaurants, a fine dining experience, bar, conference and banqueting facilities.
This unique development has achieved the client’s ambition of becoming a destination venue, with the variety of dining and entertainment options, each with their own identity, attracting a broad range of visitors. Chela restaurant specialises in the highest quality meat dishes. The Funicular Restaurant offers classic Georgian dishes with a twist. Puri Guliani is a dream come true for lovers of pastries and breads, including every kind of Khachapuri.
