design et al are delighted to announce Tjep. as a shortlisted company in the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2015. The Amsterdam-based company will compete in the Retail / Leisure Space category with their project, The House of Tulips.

Tjep. was specifically selected to design a prominent area of Schiphol Airport, in Amsterdam. The Area, lounge 3 features a restaurant (Bread), cheese counter (Say Cheese) and a flower shop (House of Tulips).

As a surprising and innovative flower shop, the prominent green design incorporates two Dutch icons: a typical Amsterdam town-house façade and a greenhouse.

Every morning a hydraulic system lifts up the house, creating the sunny atmosphere of a flower market underneath.

The new plaza is a leading and inspiring space with an atmosphere that has a strong link with The Netherlands. This important landmark allows for a unique experience for passengers at Schiphol Airport.
