design et al are delighted to announce that 1.61 London were the successful winners of the Residential £2.5-5 Million (Property by Value) Award, in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2015. The brief was to create a unique triplex in a stainless steel gated cobbled mews off of Old Street, Central London. 1.61 London wanted to enhance the industrial warehouse exterior surrounding, by incorporating a contrasting luxurious interior design style. design et al are delighted to announce that Congdon Brown have been shortlisted for a Kitchen over £25,000 award The clients of this Kitchen Project wanted to  create a space where the kitchen had the atmosphere of the Victorian / Regency era but yet the conveniences of a modern contemporary open plan kitchen. They  converted the basement of a derelict townhouse into; kitchen diner with utility rooms, adjoining cinema with direct garden access.  The clients wanted several walls to be removed

Shortlisted: Amphibious House by BACA Architects

design et al congratulate BACA Architects on their shortlist success for the Residential Architectural Property Award. The UK’s first amphibious house, built on an island in the Thames, finally provides a long-term solution to flooding for riverside homes. The client wanted a generous home on the river but within walking distance of the town centre. The previous house, built before 1945, was raised on timber posts to protect it from flooding and clad in timber boarding but not high enough to cope.
