Stickman’s CAVE Reaches International Shortlist

The Conrad Dubai is located in the heart of Dubai’s commercial, business and entertainment district on Sheikh Zayed Road. CAVE is the hotel’s signature wine bar, located on the mezzanine floor of the hotel and has just been shortlisted for the International Design & Architecture Awards 2013.

The urban-style wine bar, designed by Stickman is a warm contemporary blend of sleek yet natural modernity fused with the ideals of an old world wine cellar. This exclusive venue is aimed at catering for the VIP guest and is inspired by the grand cru and burgundy wine regions of France. Private wine cellars set into chalk caves, tasting tables and technically advanced enigmatic wine systems are amongst the design high-lights in this multifarious venue. The main bar itself glows with backlit fret-cut Corian, which provides a unique foreground to the temperature-controlled fresh wine systems. Columns are strapped with leather belt braces similar to the 18th century when wine barrels were carted through the streets of France. Their contours define the elliptical form of barrels throughout the space. Tasting tables are scattered throughout the venue allowing groups of guests to sip and share worldly wines. Like a lot of wine houses in new world wine regions such as Australia and South Africa, a fire place is used to set the mood with a wall of backlit wine bottles defining the atmosphere and ambience.
