design et al are delighted to announce that That Is Ith Interior has been shortlisted for City Space (Apartment/Penthouse) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
That Is Ith Interior were instructed to design this super luxury apartment located in an exclusive low-rise building in the centre of Bangkok, the brief was to create a serene environment for the client, like a hideaway resort in the bustling city. The client is a celebrity who lives in both Bangkok and New York and has been a star in many Hollywood movies which was to reflect in the design of the apartment. Despite this, That Is Ith Interior have stated that the client had a warm and gentle personality and was in love with martial arts, the challenge for the designer was to combine the two aspects of their client.
Therefore, the concept drawn up for the interior was the combination of these two characters, using a robust and rough texture yet a warm and gentle colour palette. One of the main features was to create a masculine statement of enormous wooden coverings on the wall against the clean and sleek look of the Minotti sofa, accentuated with copper, cow hide and burnt orange leather. The oversized special design feature imitating real wood log as main sculpture gives such strong sense of masculine yet cosy living.
The high contrast of the gentle colour scheme and rough and textured elements in the room is That Is Ith Interior’s favourite aspect of this project. The project works so well because the interior design is bold, yet warm and comfortable to live in. This is emphasised by interesting colour scheme and the airy, breezy and pleasant building surrounded with rain trees. The overall warm and relax ambience of the room blends in so well with the 100-year old rain tree in the property.
