Twenty Grosvenor Square in Mayfair is the first standalone Private Residences from Four Seasons. The 250,000 sq. ft. former US Naval Headquarters has 37 private residences as well as an incredible complement of amenities serviced by Four Seasons and designed by Finchatton.
The brief was threefold: to create a welcoming space that transports you from the hustle and bustle of Mayfair into a place of calm and respite the moment you step into the building; to retain the heritage and history of the building and area; and to create a private home with the facilities of a five-star hotel.
At the very heart of the brief, heritage and history played an important part. Once the home of the US Naval Forces in Europe and frequented by the likes of General Dwight Eisenhower during the Second World War, Twenty Grosvenor Square is steeped in history. Masterful architectural detailing acknowledges the history and character of the building, and the new development has been lovingly created behind the retained historical façade of Grosvenor Square.
The residences are inspired by the building’s historic past and include exquisite design features such as elegant classical drawing rooms, soaring ceilings, media rooms, family and professional kitchens, and separate access for staff. This unique opportunity, to re-create a historic icon in such a significant location, has allowed Finchatton to carefully choreograph a perfect sequence of spaces, from the grand entrance lobby and extensive amenity areas through to each square foot of every individual apartment. Vast windows flood the rooms with natural light, while voluminous proportions and meticulously considered layouts create spaces that are grand and yet utterly warm and welcoming.
Twenty Grosvenor Square is the world’s first standalone Four Seasons Private Residences. Setting new standards in luxury London real estate, the design needed to combine the best of hotel services with private ownership. The 250,000 sq. ft. building has incredible amenities including private wine cellars, a spa with a 25-metre pool, a treatment suite with steam room and sauna, a state-of-the-art gym, games room, a cinema, business suite, children’s playroom, a garden library and a private landscaped courtyard, as well as a 26,603 sq. ft. car park. All designed by Finchatton to create the perfect balance of a five-star hotel with a private home.
