West One Bathrooms

Congratulations to West One Bathrooms shortlisted for Bathroom Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2018

design et al are delighted to announce that West One Bathrooms have been shortlisted for Bathroom Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.

The clients for this project wanted the feel of a Belgian farmhouse with modern functionality, which West One Bathrooms achieved through the use of soft chalky textures in the white sanitary ware, earthy tones of the console storage in matt ‘Corteccia’ lacquer. Instead of choosing predictable flagstone look tiling, West One Bathrooms chose the soft warm textured look of large format concrete effect tiles in ‘Sage’, a warm homely grey. Spraying the walls and beams in a harmonious ‘Bone’ colour brings all the elements together to create a stunning welcome space, befitting of the master suite in this home.

For the male client a large airy shower was his priority, whereas for the female client, it was important to be able to bathe and relax. To draw the eye in from the master bedroom and reflect the view West One Bathrooms removed all the internal walls. The designers wanted to instil a real ‘His’ and ‘Her’ presence and define the space in the room, whilst still keeping it airy. West One Bathrooms built out the back wall centrally which created more head height and a focal point to place the stunning antoniolupi Corian floating double console. The full width mirror with anti-fog technology and backlit LED lighting which is controlled by a wave of the hand, situated above the basin reflecting the stunning view from the bedrooms.

The stunning ‘Dean’ taps from THG in a Brushed Matt Nickel finish sit proudly on the console of the industrial design from the era that preceded the Arts & Crafts movement. The large shower area measuring 1600x100mm is on the left hand side as you enter the room, an antoniolupi tray has been cleverly recessed in the floor, flush to the tiles and a long Corian lined recess with subtle LED lighting features in the long wall, matching ‘Dean’ shower valves, handset and deluge feature here, with bespoke Majestic enclosure al matched to brassware finish. Opposite the shower to the right of the entrance, the soft chalky textured Baia bath sits in splendour, angled in the corner to make the most of view from the window, offset with co- ordinating ‘Dean’ brassware.

West One Bathrooms’ favourite aspect of this project is the feel of the space, you feel at peace, not hurried when you are in the room. The design enhances the architectural features in the room and works with them, not against them. The design delivers all the aspects the client wanted in one space, it defines certain areas but does not segregate them, flows and blends harmoniously with the home and surroundings.
