Zephyr Interiors have been short listed for the International Design & Architecture Awards 2013

London based Zephyr Interiors have been short listed for the Residential £1 – £2.5 million* award in the International Design & Architecture Awards 2013.

The project was a full design reconfiguration and refurbishment of a mews building from four flats back into a single home. The property has had an additional top floor and a basement below the existing building.  It is a fully bespoke luxury interior design and lighting design from conception to completion.

The key aspects of the project are that it is a boutique style home, great for entertaining friends, with as much open space as possible. It had to be welcoming, not minimalist and detract away from narrow space. They were tasked with making the basement feel like an intimate dining space and mood lighting was essential, any art work had to suit the space, and all technology had to be hidden where possible. The client also requested that the furniture selected for their home had to be streamlined so as not to take up excessive space, but not to be minimal either . Zephyr Interiors also had to create a suite style feel in the Master bedroom.

Bespoke copper bronze metal, Perspex and wood double height display case linking the Living area with the Dining area. Creating an imposing focal point in such a small space really draws you into the rooms, it has a great visual impact and interesting finishes.

It draws attention away from the typically narrow, small internal scale of mews houses and instead interlinks spaces using over scaled bespoke furniture pieces such as the double height display cabinet, the glass screens with shutters allows extra light into the Master Bedroom suite and an illusion of continued space into the stairwell. The bespoke fitted furniture in the bedrooms and floor to ceiling bespoke doors ensures the rooms have a larger sense of scale. Everything is designed with meticulous attention to detail, even down to the metal bronze skirting and bronze and brass handles.
