Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi Arboretum has been shortlisted for Hotel Under 200 Rooms – Africas & Gulf States Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2020.

Offering a sanctuary in the heart of downtown Nairobi, guests experience tranquillity from the moment they enter Radisson Blu Nairobi Arboretum, with residential style rooms and suites catering for long stays, a relaxing interior palette inspired by the park and calming views of the pool and park.
The interior and exterior are one. Every space in the property has an allusion to nature; the sound of a bird or water, a glimpse of trees in the park, hanging ferns from a planter or the landscaped boundary wall. Radisson Blu Nairobi Arboretum ensures guests a sense of wellness throughout the property and a connection to nature which puts the property in context to The Arboretum Park. The design is a very subtle but bold insertion into the landscape. The designers selected muted shades of brown and green for the external colours of the building to blend into the environs, and to remain subtle in the landscape, rather than building vertically the hotel is a leaf shape horizontally across the site.
Radisson Blu Nairobi Arboretum had to have a contemporary style whilst paying homage to the surroundings. Details such as the customised Lasvit chandelier inscribed with African motifs, the carefully thought landscaping to attract birds, and the green tones to the expansive infinity-edged pool illustrate this idea. A unique feature of this hotel is the 60m long pool encased in glittering green mosaics which cuts through the buildings. With the sound of the water falling over the edge and birds coming to drink from the pool, guests are removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.
A conscious effort was made for Radisson Blu Nairobi Arboretum’s design to be environmentally sustainable – hot water for the guestrooms and pool water is provided by Solar Power, and rooms and corridors are naturally ventilated. Continuing their sustainability approach, Radisson Blu Nairobi Arboretum features a beehive on the roof of the building to produce their own honey and have also planted a herb garden next to the main kitchen for use in their dishes.
