Occhio have been shortlisted for Lighting Piece Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.
The expressive Mito largo arc luminaire combines sublime design with captivating features and innovative lighting technology. Occhio is one of the most innovative companies in the lighting industry and the market leader in Germany’s premium design lighting segment. Founded in 1999 by Axel Meise, Occhio is based on an idea that is as simple as it is revolutionary: Drawing on the belief that quality of light means quality of life. With the arc luminaire Mito largo, Occhio expands its award-winning Mito series with a design icon to make an expressive addition in interior design.
Weightless, sensual, elegant. With the new Mito largo, Occhio is reinterpreting its masterpiece Mito as an iconic arc luminaire, and making an expressive statement in interior design. Mito largo combines outstanding quality of workmanship and light, intuitive control and extraordinary features such as colour tune in one graceful, curved design. The characteristic, circular head floats as if weightless on the tapered, minimalist carbon body. The subtle definition of its cut highlights the artistic workmanship and emphasizes its careful attention to detail, allowing Mito to appear as a delicately crafted piece of jewellery.
There are six refined surfaces that give the luminaire its unparalleled look – including rose gold, bronze, matte gold, matte silver, matte black and matte white. The carbon body is available in white or black. Thanks to its sophisticated mechanism, the luminaire head can be set at three heights – Mito largo can be switched on/off and dimmed as if by magic right at the head of the luminaire using touchless control. This function lets light be spread continuously between uplight and downlight. With colour tune allowing the colour temperature to be adjusted according to the situation, the light can match almost any mood – from a warm light atmosphere for a relaxing evening to a vibrant, cool working light. The light colour is infinitely adjustable between 2700 and 4000 K.
Almost weightless, the Mito ring floats elegant and effortless above the furniture with the characteristic cut of carbon rods, available in white or black. It is precisely this attention to detail that shapes the silhouette. The subtly defined cut is the characteristic feature of Mito and shows off the quality of workmanship. The delicate, freestanding luminaire represents the perfect blend of material and colour – without impinging upon the room’s architecture. Occhio is evolving from a technically innovative company into a lifestyle brand that represents a new culture of light.
