The Andrew Winch designed Boeing Business Jet 737-700 INGRAM is the latest private jet to reach the shortlist of The International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2013. Tailored to the Client’s specific requirements, the design incorporates a flexible open-plan interior arrangement complemented by a soft and contemporary interior scheme.
The Owner was clear he wanted his own aircraft to be fundamentally different in its use of space and interior design. An extension of his personal home, it had to provide friends and family with comfort and enjoyment on long distance travel, as well as to be able to instantly convert to a fully equipped business environment when required. INGRAM accommodates up to 19 passengers, comfortably sleeping 13 in a configuration of 4 double beds and 5 fully reclining certified seats.
The entrance hall, characterised by the handmade semi transparent ‘shoji’ screens, introduces the gentle and contemporary design scheme to guests as they board, whilst concealing the galley and crew bathroom. Moving aft from the entrance hall, one passes the Owner’s office and library, which doubles as a crew rest area. Equipped with neat bookshelves, fold down meeting table, full office and WIFI facilities, the Owner’s office allows business to continue whilst in-flight.
The open plan arrangement of the dining/conference and executive lounge accommodates formal dining for up to 12 guests in a wonderfully spacious environment. INGRAM’s multifunctional design allows the private cinema lounge to double as a children’s bedroom – a rise/fall table can be lowered to provide a full size double bed, or a relaxed tapchan seating area for movie watching.
Located at the aft of the aircraft, the fully private Owner’s suite includes a full size double bed, desk and wardrobe space. The feeling of space is maximised through the use of etched glass in the shower surround that connects the en-suite bathroom.
INGRAM’s calming, contemporary interior scheme incorporates a natural background complemented by rich exotic timbers, stitched leather work, textured fabrics and animal skins. Solidity is reinforced by the interior architecture and unique furniture details. The interior’s unique signature is derived from the polished carbon fibre ring frames appearing as though they are holding together a wood fuselage represented in the veneered ceiling and windows. Certified seating is inspired by the classic Eames lounge chair design with a laminated wood shell combined with contrasting leather.
