Yuan King International based in Taiwan, have been short listed for the Living Space* award in the International Design & Architecture Awards 2013.
The owner of this property is a photographer. This residence is his home and studio, so we designed two areas, one for work, and the other as a private residence. We combined the living room, working areas and kitchen into one block, to give the overall impression of space.
The main materials we employed in this project are unpolished natural stone, the bark of the Chinese parasol tree and plain concrete etc. The choice of these materials hinged on the fact that they all have a grain that is natural and unfussy, but not unsophisticated.
Wooden furniture, a contemporary grey sofa and a small fish bowl are some of the detailing added to create a peaceful and relaxing ambiance.
