Created by world renowned fashion designer and one of Hong Kong’s icons, the Designer Suite by Vivienne Tam offers stunning panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and a suite experience unlike any other.
Hotel ICON is a stylish testament to Hong Kong’s creative energy and vibrant art scene, showcases work from the city’s celebrated designers and visionaries. Hotel ICON is the teaching and research hotel for The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), from which Vivienne graduated. The hotel’s mission resonated with Vivienne and she wanted also to be part of this band of designers and artists celebrated and profiled by the hotel.
Personally curated by Vivienne Tam to exude her signature brand of “China chic,” the spacious bedroom with an adjoining living room provides privacy for work or entertaining in the grand style.
Against the sweeping views of an equally iconic feature of Hong Kong – Victoria Harbour – Vivienne set out to create a one-off suite inspired by her New York flat and exuding a blend of chinoiserie and modernity, a signature of her style. The 80 square meter pad located on the 27th floor of the hotel references modern design, Chinese accents and the principles of feng shui to render the room an effortless elegance and chic simplicity. It is both a peek into Vivienne Tam’s private world and an expression of her ideal proverbial home-away-from-home.
It features many Vivienne’s favourites. Wood figures prominently in the living room because it’s very textural and conveys a sense of warmth and luxury. Red sofa from the Bouroullec brothers, the Swarovski art work in the bedroom, Chinese courtesan plaques hanging in the bedroom, etc.
It’s the first time Vivienne Tam designed a hotel room or suite ever. It underscores Hotel ICON’s mission to be unlike any other while at the same time showcasing and celebrating one of Hong Kong truly home-grown talents. This collaboration represents a homecoming of sorts for the New York-based designer whose brand of “China chic” is renowned worldwide.
